These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Skano, a business card scanner application for iPhone ("the App") developed by Trever Green ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Skano captures business card images using your device's camera and extracts contact information using on-device optical character recognition (OCR) and on-device artificial intelligence. All processing occurs locally on your iPhone. The App is sold as a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store with no subscription or recurring charges.
Skano uses OCR and AI models to extract contact information from business cards. Extraction is not guaranteed to be accurate. Cards with unusual fonts, busy backgrounds, low lighting, damage, or non-standard layouts may produce incomplete or incorrect results. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any extracted information before relying on it for business, legal, financial, or personal communication purposes.
We make no representations or warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any data extracted by the App. You should review and confirm all fields — including names, phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses — before saving, exporting, or acting on them.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, in accordance with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and the standard End User License Agreement for App Store applications.
You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, or create derivative works of the App except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Skano stores your scanned cards locally on your device. We do not have access to your data and do not operate any servers that receive your scanned cards or contact information. Our Privacy Policy describes how the App handles data in detail.
You are responsible for maintaining backups of any data you wish to preserve. We are not responsible for data loss resulting from device failure, software issues, deletion of the App, or any other cause.
The App is sold as a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store at the price displayed at the time of purchase. There are no subscriptions, no recurring charges, and no in-app purchases beyond the initial purchase price. All purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's refund policies. We do not process payments directly and cannot issue refunds; all refund requests must be made through Apple.
Skano can export contact data in formats compatible with third-party services such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, Microsoft Outlook, and Google Contacts. Skano is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these companies. The export formats produce CSV templates intended for manual import. We make no representations about compatibility with future versions of any third-party service. All trademarks referenced in the App or in these Terms are the property of their respective owners.
Skano is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc., though it is distributed through the Apple App Store.
You agree to use Skano only for lawful purposes. You agree not to use the App to:
You are solely responsible for compliance with all laws applicable to your collection, storage, and use of contact information, including but not limited to GDPR, CCPA, CAN-SPAM, and TCPA where applicable.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, THAT EXTRACTION RESULTS WILL BE ACCURATE, OR THAT THE APP WILL BE COMPATIBLE WITH ALL DEVICES OR FUTURE VERSIONS OF iOS.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TREVER GREEN BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, BUSINESS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Trever Green from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to (a) your use of the App, (b) your violation of these Terms, (c) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party, or (d) any contact information you scanned, stored, or shared in violation of applicable law.
These Terms remain in effect while you use the App. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without notice. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at skano.pages.dev/terms.html. Material changes will be reflected in an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Riverside County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
To the extent permitted by law, you and Trever Green agree that any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis, and you waive any right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration.
